Adding puzzles to pages

Every puzzle you save is added to a page or post as a real Gutenberg block — never a shortcode.

  1. Open any page or post in the WordPress Block Editor.
  2. Click the block inserter (+) and search for one of: Ev Crossword Viewer, Ev Word Search Viewer, Ev Checkered Force, Ev Dots and Boxes, or Ev Quiz Viewer.
  3. The block inserter search results showing the EV Puzzles blocks.

  4. Add the block, then open its settings panel in the right-hand sidebar and pick which saved puzzle or quiz to display (for Checkered Force and Dots and Boxes, pick the difficulty instead — Dots and Boxes also lets you set board size and colors here).
  5. The block's sidebar panel with a saved puzzle selected from the picker.

  6. Publish or update the page. The puzzle is stored inside the block itself, so the page doesn't depend on anything else to display it.
One puzzle, many pages

The same saved crossword, word search, Checkered Force, or Dots and Boxes entry can be added to as many pages as you like — add the block again elsewhere and pick the same puzzle. Removing a block from one page never deletes the puzzle or affects any other page using it.

Interactive Quizzes are the exception

An Ev Quiz Viewer block doesn't freeze a copy of the quiz — it always shows whatever you last saved under Interactive Quizzes (EVQ), on every page it's added to. Editing the quiz updates every page automatically; the other puzzle types don't work this way.
