On importing ------------ First of all, PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE DOCUMENT BEFORE IMPORTING USERS. The biggest problem you might face importing is unconsistent files from College Publisher. Before you import your users, you might have to do a small amount of formatting. Importing from FeedBurner ------------------------ Importing your FeedBurner subscribers should be no problem. Your file should look something like this: *-------------------* Email,Subscribed,Status address@aol.com,06/17/2009 09:52,Active address@gmail.com,04/30/2009 01:37,Pending Verification *-------------------* To prepare the list for import, simply delete the first line (Email,Subscribed,Status) Importing from College Publisher -------------------------------- Importing from College Publisher is more difficult, because their lists aren't automatically created. You're going to want your list to look something like this: *-------------------* First,Last,address@aol.com First,Last,address@gmail.com *-------------------* When you first get your list from CP, though, it will most likely look something like this: *-------------------* first_name last_name email -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- first last address@aol.com first last address@gmail.com *-------------------* or this: *-------------------* first last address@aol.com first last address@gmail.com *-------------------* The first example is from a fixed-width file, the second from a tab delimited file. To import these, you need to turn them into comma delimted files. First, open a black sheet in Excel. Go to Data > Get external data and select import text file. Finally, you need to make sure your csv is saved using a compatible charset, otherwise the users won't import correctly. To do this, open your csv in a text editor and copy and paste the entire contents into a new text document. Save that document as import.csv. Importing, finally ------------------ To import the file, upload your csv to wp-content and name it import.csv. Then go to the admin panel for Courier and follow the instructions there. Please make sure to delete the file when you're done.
