A word/phrase can be the name of a person, place or thing. Smartlinker can hyperlink over a million words and phrases. This is an alpha release. == Installation == 1. Unzip 'smartlinker.zip' and upload the 'smartlinker' folder in '/wp-content/plugins/' on your server 1. Activate the 'Smartlinker' plugin from the Plugins menu == Frequently Asked Questions == = How does the hyperlinking work? = Select the word/phrase to be hyperlinked. Select the Category to which the word/phrase belongs. Press the "Smart Link" button. If the word/phrase is present for that category in the inetlinker database, it will be hyperlinked. = What is the "Auto Hyperlink" option? = "Auto Hyperlink" will search the inetlinker database for a best match and automatically hyperlink the selected word/phrase. You don't have to bother selecting the category. = What is the purpose of the Categories? = A word or phrase can have multiple meanings. For example, "Michael Douglas" can be the name of a movie star or a sportsman. Hence, the categories. = What browsers are currently supported? = IE 6/7 and Firefox 2.0 on Windows/UNIX. (Not tested on Firefox Mac OS) = Known issues = 1. Smartlinker does not work on Firefox 3.0. When you select a word and press the "Smartlink" button, the "Link Status Indicator" button turns yellow with the message "Try a smaller block of text. Try not selecting across block elements". We're working to get a fix out. 2. "Smartlinker Categories" drop-down menu does not work on WordPress 2.1 for IE. = The phrases "Pacific Ocean" and "Atlantic Ocean" are hyper linked, but the word "ocean" gives me a "No Match Found". Why? = Very simple words are not hyperlinked. = "Mozart" or "Clooney" does not hyperlink? = Please try the full names of people, in this case "Wolfgang Mozart" or "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" and "George Clooney". In general, please type the full names of anything ("Yellowstone National Park" instead of "Yellowstone").
