When people around the world visit your blog, the corresponding areas on the heat map widget light up! == Description == The PulseMaps plugin visualizes your site visitors' locations on the world map. The plugin includes a map widget which you place on the pages you want to track. The areas where you get the most visitors are shown with a lighter color. The most recent visitors are show as flashing dots on the map. The total number of visits is also shown. For a live demo, visit the [PulseMaps Blog](http://pulsemaps.com/blog/) and the [detail page for PulseMaps Blog visitors](http://app.pulsemaps.com/maps/526958181/). Simply drop the widget on your blog's sidebar. The map widget will work as a form of “social proof” : your visitors see that your blog is being read by people all over the world. This makes your blog instantly more trustworthy–who would trust a blog nobody reads? With this widget, you show readers that your site DOES get visitors. As an added bonus, the map just looks pretty dang cool! Click on the widget to get to a detail page sporting a huge map which can be freely zoomed and panned, along with other interesting details and statistics. The widget size and colors are fully customizable; you can choose any colors and size you wish on the admin panel. To track visits without the widget, upgrade to the VIP plan. = Why is the visit count different from other trackers? = Tracking visits is not an exact science. Many hit counters will increase the counter for every time a page was requested from the web server. For various reasons, this could lead to misleadingly high visit counts. PulseMaps only tracks actual page views by actual browsers, almost always operated by an actual human. PulseMaps keeps track of visits and page views. A page view is recorded when a page is viewed on a browser. Page views from the same user are grouped into visits. A pause of 30 minutes or more between page views causes a new visit to be recorded. So for example, if a user visits your site and views 10 pages within 5 minutes, the number on the widget is increased by only one. If the same user comes back and views a couple more pages after an hour, a second visit is recorded. Click through to the map details page to see the number of page views. == Changelog == = 1.4 = * Real-time dots for recent visitors. * Visit counter and date. = 1.3.1 = * Fixed issue with multisite/network installations. = 1.3 = * Support for transparent background in map widget. * Option for opening map detail page in a new window. * Warn user if tracking not enabled. * Warn user about unsaved changes on settings page. * Support for upgrading to VIP plan (keep history, higher page view limit, tracking without widget) = 1.2 = * Clickable map widget opens large map view which can be freely zoomed and panned. * Text link removed. * Limits documented. * Tested on WordPress 3.2 = 1.1.2 = * Fixed some issues on first install. = 1.1.1 = * Fixed readme. = 1.1 = * Fully customizable widget width and colors. = 1.0 = * Initial upload.
