== Description ==  
Records Ping Errors and displays them in a dashboard widget.  

== Long Description ==  

The Ping Watcher plugin can catch up to 100 ping errors. These are displayed in both a dashboard widget and on the plugin's Settings page. Great for tracking repeated ping failures so you can clean up your ping list.  

The Ping Watcher plugin is not compatible with the [Error Reporting plugin](http://www.mittineague.com/dev/er.php). Ping Watcher is included as a part of that plugin, and both can not be activated at the same time.  

If a ping fails once, or even a few times, it does not necessarily mean that it should be removed from your ping list.  
However, if one is repeatedly failing over a long period of time, it justifies investigation and possible removal.  

If you do not want to see the widget on your dashboard, please go to dashboard's "Screen Options" and deselect "Ping Watcher".  

Uninstalling this plugin using the WordPress plugin list page's "delete" will remove the plugin's options from the wp-options table, including any saved ping errors.  

== Installation ==  
1. Upload the 'pingwatcher' folder to the 'wp-content/plugins/' directory  
2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress  
3. Click the 'Settings' admin menu link, and select 'PingWatcher', or click it's 'Settings' link on the 'Plugins' menu page  
4. Configure the option  

== Frequently Asked Questions ==  

= Why isn't Ping Watcher compatible with your Error Reporting plugin? =  

Both plugins set PHP error handling to use custom error handlers. The Error Reporting plugin catches all error types. Although the Ping Watcher plugin only catches E_ WARNNG errors, of which it then selectively records ping errors, if both were activated the other E_ WARNING errors would be missed by the Error Reporting plugin. As the Error Reporting plugin includes the Ping Watcher plugin's features, if you are interested in other errors as well as ping errors, please use the [Error Reporting plugin](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/error-reporting/) instead of Ping Watcher.

For Localization, the languages folder must be included in the pingwatcher folder.
