I think this behavior ruins the spirit of the WP community. Not to mention that it stifles competition and inhibits development of independent software.

With this plugin you could easily add the Matomo tracking code to your websites footer in under a minute with only a few clicks. And optionally extend the tracker with some useful features that would both help you understand your visitors better and help you optimise the effectiveness of your website, and even SEO.

**Tracker for Matomo** was designed to be barebones but still provide a complete experience for the majority of people.
Effectively collecting all the stats you need via the built-in Matomo tracker.
You could easily track dead links or inlinks that end up on 404 error pages so you could effectively take action and fix those issues. As a result, Google would like you more!

If you use RSS and Atom feeds and wondered how effective they are you could track incoming clicks from your RSS and Atom feeds.

But alas, the Matomo Team won't allow competition on WordPress.org.

Matomo is a fine tool if you don't want to use Jetpack Stats, WP-Statistics or Google Analytics.
But also if you simply want a second opinion. On my own website I use this plugin and it works great.

== Installation ==

1. Navigate to Plugins > Add New in your dashboard.
2. Search for 'Arnan Matomo' or 'Arnan' in the plugin database and click install on the **Matomo Tracker** plugin.
3. Activate **Matomo Tracker** when done.
4. Navigate to Tools > Matomo Tracker to set up your tracking code.
