RECENT FEATURES Video Chat 3.0. The video chat has recently been upgraded, providing for higher resolution video at a lower bandwidth. Version 2.2.x now comes with FriendsCenter, an optional floating toolbar component intended for better user interaction. The instant messaging capability has been enhanced with new-messages and friends-list dialogs. New features include private video chat, 2 player games, collaborative whiteboard and documents, transliteration service, and doodlepad. The 2.2.x series will be focused on providing greater user to user interaction. In addition, you may now open the chatcenter directly into a separate window, so the the connection is maintained through page changes. NEW IN 2.2.13 Version 2.2.13 contains new style templates for sites with darker backgrounds. Style templates found in the fcchat/styles/ folder. NEW IN 2.2.12.4 Version 2.2.12.3 contains an error that makes access to the pop-up window and administration panel impossible. Upgrade immediately to version 2.2.12.4. NEW IN 2.2.12.3 A template override function has been added to the FCChat -> Settings page. This will allow you to make customizations to the style and language templates without directly editing the template files. Also, changes made in this way have the advantage of being able to persist accross updates. NEW IN 2.2.12.2 Version 2.2.12.1 was found to contain an error that made it unstable. NEW IN 2.2.11 Promo - this feature introduces new users to the chat, and prompts them to create a chat name. To disable set prompt_user:false, in the config file. Signature-users may write a signature which appears below their name. NEW IN 2.2.10 Facebook Connect - Allows users to log in with their Facebook accounts. (To use, set facebook_connect:true in the config file.) New search menu items for the toolbar. (To use, set add the menu items 'wp_search' or 'wp_search_in_menu' to the menu item list. For example: toolbar_items:["wp_search","friendscenter","social_media"] ) You may opt to display the toolbar in "Banner Mode" for mobile browsers. This eliminates some of the difficulties with mobile browsers not being able to display fixed elements properly. (To use, set toolbar_banner_mode:true in the config file) UPGRADE NOTICE After upgrading to version 2.2.12, there will be a period of about 2 minutes where the chat will not function properly. This is because the upgrade requires a reboot of your chat server. Just keep refreshing the page for a few minutes until the chat comes online again. When you upgrade to a new version, any customizations you made to the chat files will be erased. In order to save those changes, do the following: 1. Make backup copies of any files that you have altered. You may wish to make backups of the following folders: (fcchat/config, fcchat/languages, fcchat/styles, fcchat/html/config). To upgrade from any previous version to the current version, first, make backup copies of the 2 configuration files in your old installation (fcchat/config/config.js, fcchat/html/config/config.php) and place them in a safe place where they will not be deleted. Next uninstall the old version and install the current version. Finally, copy your old configuration setting manually to the current version's configuration files. Of course, if you made no alterations to the config files in your previous installation, you may just simply install the new version. Refresh your browser's cache and cookies after upgrading to insure that the browser is displaying the new installation correctly.
