Give your customers a page on your site where they can access private content in a secure and easy way. 
As of today, private content means files: you upload files for your customer, and only him will be able to view them
or download them on his page.

* Private files, that can be assigned to a particular user and will get listed in its customer area
* Show private files grouped by category / by year / ungrouped in the customer area

All the screenshots where done on a WordPress 3.6 development site, using the base Twenty Thirteen theme. No other
customisation has been done to the plugin or to the add-ons.

== Installation ==

1. Nothing special, just upload the files, activate and you can then visit the settings page if you want. Like any 
other plugin
1. You need then to create a page and insert the [customer-area] shortcode. Your customers will be able to access their
private content on that page.
1. Finally, you will need to create content for the users (!): you can start with a private file for instance. Just 
check out the WordPress menu in your administration panel, you can add new customer files just like any post. Simply 
upload a file (below the content box), set the owner of that file, publish, and your customer should be able to see it.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How can I forbid direct download of user files? =

If someone knows the URL of a particular user file, he can download it without restriction. You can however secure this
by copying the file "protect-downloads.htaccess" included in our plugin's extras folder to the plugin's upload folder
(it should be /wp-content/customer-area). Then you will need to rename that file ".htaccess" so that your server takes
it into account.

= How can I create my own theme? =

The plugin allows you to create your own theme. The easiest way to start is to copy the default themes folder to either
your theme's folder or your WordPress' content folder. You should endup with a folder structure similar to:

* wp-content/customer-area/themes/admin/default
* wp-content/customer-area/themes/frontend/default

or if you chose to copy to the WordPress TwentyThirteen's theme folder:

* wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/customer-area/themes/admin/default
* wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/customer-area/themes/frontend/default

Once you have copied the folders, you simply need to rename the default folder to a name of your choice, and start 
editing the style.css stylesheet. 
 
> *Hint: If you are using a theme that could be upgraded in the future, we recommend to put your customer area themes in 
the WordPress content directory.*

= How can I customize the templates? =

The plugin allows to customize how the information is displayed in the customer area. To change that:

* Create a folder in your theme named "customer-area"
* Create a subfolder in that folder named "templates" 
* Locate the template file you want to change (hint: look in the plugin folders, they are all named .template.php)
* Copy that file to your theme's "customer-area/templates" folder
* Do your changes, save the file
* You should be able to see the changes immediatly and automatically
