It currently uses EXIF metadata, filenames, and post titles — depending on your settings. AI-powered generation (OpenAI and Anthropic Claude) is coming in a future release; a preview of that option is already visible on the Settings page. = Will this overwrite my existing ALT text, caption, or description? = No. The plugin only fills in values that are empty, whether generated automatically on upload or via the bulk tools. = Does WebP conversion replace my original images? = No, by default originals are kept alongside their WebP copy. If you'd rather save disk space, you can enable "Delete original after conversion" on the Settings page — but this permanently deletes the original file. = Will this slow down my site? = Not at all. It does not load scripts on the frontend and is optimized for performance. = Is this compatible with page builders? = Yes — 100% compatible with Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Gutenberg, and all modern builders. = Can I bulk optimize my old images? = Yes. You can bulk-generate ALT text and bulk-convert images to WebP any time. --- == Screenshots == 1. Dashboard - Shows All Summary Stats 2. Missing ALT Manager - Shows images without ALT text 3. Convert to WebP - Converts images to WebP == Changelog == = 1.0.2 = - Added a dedicated Settings page: choose ALT/caption/description sources, WebP quality, original-file handling, and excluded folders without touching the database. - Added automatic caption and description generation (fills in empty fields only, same source chain as ALT text). - Added a preview of the upcoming AI-powered generation option (OpenAI / Anthropic Claude) on the Settings page. - Changed the default for "delete original after WebP conversion" to off, so uploads are non-destructive out of the box. - Fixed excluded-folder matching so it only matches whole folder names, not any file path containing the same digits/text. - Fixed a capability mismatch that could deny access to the WebP Converter page for users who could see its menu item. - Refreshed the admin UI with a consistent color and typography system across all plugin pages. - Various internal fixes: corrected a stale version constant, added `/vendor/` to the release exclusion list. = 1.0.1 = - Version bump, no functional changes. = 1.0.0 = - Initial release. - Alt text, captions, and descriptions. - WebP conversion with bulk tool. - Missing ALT manager. - Media Library integration. - Performance optimizations. == Upgrade Notice == = 1.0.2 = The default for deleting original images after WebP conversion has changed to off (non-destructive). If you were relying on originals being deleted automatically, enable "Delete original after conversion" on the new Settings page.
