# stack-detector

Detect the project's technology stack.

## Process

All commands are read-only. Run them in order.

### Step 1 — Configuration files

Check for config files in the project root:

- `package.json` — Node.js (npm/yarn/pnpm)
- `go.mod` — Go
- `requirements.txt`, `pyproject.toml`, `setup.py`, `Pipfile` — Python
- `Cargo.toml` — Rust
- `*.gemspec`, `Gemfile` — Ruby
- `pom.xml`, `build.gradle`, `build.gradle.kts` — Java/Kotlin
- `*.csproj`, `*.sln` — C#/.NET
- `composer.json` — PHP
- `mix.exs` — Elixir
- `Dockerfile`, `docker-compose.yml` — Docker

### Step 2 — Languages

Determine the primary languages from the found configs and file extensions:

```bash
# Top source-code extensions (excluding node_modules, vendor, .git)
find . -type f \( -name "*.ts" -o -name "*.js" -o -name "*.py" -o -name "*.go" -o -name "*.rs" -o -name "*.rb" -o -name "*.java" -o -name "*.kt" -o -name "*.cs" -o -name "*.php" -o -name "*.ex" -o -name "*.exs" -o -name "*.swift" \) \
  -not -path "*/node_modules/*" -not -path "*/.git/*" -not -path "*/vendor/*" -not -path "*/dist/*" -not -path "*/build/*" \
  | sed 's/.*\.//' | sort | uniq -c | sort -rn | head -10
```

### Step 3 — Frameworks

If `package.json` exists — read `dependencies` and `devDependencies`. Look for:

- React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, Angular, Svelte, SvelteKit
- Express, Fastify, Nest.js, Hono, Koa
- Jest, Vitest, Mocha, Playwright, Cypress

If `go.mod` — read dependencies (gin, echo, fiber, chi).

If `pyproject.toml` / `requirements.txt` — look for Django, Flask, FastAPI, pytest.

If `Cargo.toml` — look for actix, axum, tokio, rocket.

### Step 4 — Package manager

Determine from lock files:

- `package-lock.json` → npm
- `yarn.lock` → yarn
- `pnpm-lock.yaml` → pnpm
- `bun.lockb` / `bun.lock` → bun
- `go.sum` → go modules
- `Pipfile.lock` → pipenv
- `poetry.lock` → poetry
- `uv.lock` → uv
- `Cargo.lock` → cargo
- `Gemfile.lock` → bundler

### Step 5 — Runtime and version

Check runtime version files:

- `.nvmrc`, `.node-version` → Node.js version
- `.python-version` → Python version
- `.ruby-version` → Ruby version
- `.tool-versions` → asdf (multiple runtimes)
- `go.mod` → Go version (line `go X.Y`)
- `rust-toolchain.toml` → Rust version
- `Dockerfile` → FROM image version

---

## Structured Output

Return the data strictly in this format:

```yaml
LANGUAGES: <comma-separated list>
FRAMEWORKS: <comma-separated list | NOT_FOUND>
PACKAGE_MANAGER: <name | NOT_FOUND>
RUNTIME: <runtime name>
RUNTIME_VERSION: <version | NOT_FOUND>
```

## Rules

- Read-only.
- Command error — record it and continue.
- Return data. The orchestrator makes decisions.
