Tomasz,

Three things before you design anything.

1. The balances do not tie to the log. In the audit sample, member M-1042 shows 1,410 points on the members table. I added up the log myself and I do not get that. The auditors want every balance to be provable from the entries behind it.

2. Since the January change, points expire after 18 months, not 24. Please make sure the new system does that.

3. The liability report (unexpired points by the store where they were earned) has to be re-runnable as at any past month end. The auditors asked us to re-run March in July and we could not, because the old numbers had been overwritten.

Also, the value of a point is a pricing decision and it may change next year. Do not bake 0.5p in.
