# Page 1 Output: The Gate

## Page Layout

Five panels. Vertical page. The first panel takes the upper third. The final panel is narrow and close.

## Panels

### Panel 1

Wide establishing shot. A stone city gate fills the page width, tall enough to make the road feel small. Morning light catches on weathered bronze fittings. The road is empty except for one traveler approaching from the foreground.

Caption: The city did not open for strangers.

### Panel 2

Medium shot from behind the traveler. Her cloak is travel-worn. One hand holds the strap of her satchel. The sealed letter is just visible inside the fold.

No dialogue.

### Panel 3

Close on a small viewing slit in the gate. One guard's eye appears in the dark.

Guard: "Mara?"

### Panel 4

Mara looks up. She does not step back, but her shoulders tighten.

Mara: "Who told you?"

### Panel 5

Close on Mara's hand hovering over the sealed letter. The wax seal is unbroken.

Guard, off panel: "You did."

## Art Handoff

The page should feel quiet rather than action-heavy. The reveal is not the gate opening; it is the city naming her before she introduces herself.
