# Windows validation checklist

**Status: not yet executed on real Windows. Support is experimental.**

Run on a native Windows 10/11 desktop with Node 24+, Pi 0.85.1 and Windows PowerShell 5.1. Do not disable security controls to pass a test.

- [ ] Install from npm or an extracted package in a path containing spaces and Unicode.
- [ ] `/shots` opens a region selector without a persistent tray icon or extra installed app.
- [ ] Drag in both directions; selection matches the resulting image with no overlay included.
- [ ] Test primary and secondary displays, displays left/above primary (negative coordinates), mixed DPI and cross-monitor selections.
- [ ] Test display-edge selections and zero-area clicks.
- [ ] Escape during selection/drag cancels without adding an image.
- [ ] Clear/shutdown/timeout terminate the capture UI and clean owned temporary files after process exit.
- [ ] Confirm selected PNG file ACL is restricted and the full desktop is not persisted.
- [ ] Blocked execution policy, downloaded-file restrictions and unavailable desktop produce an error, not silent cancellation. No policies are changed.
- [ ] Collect two images, send a nonempty prompt, then collect three; only the new three appear in the second message.
- [ ] Ordinary Pi attachments remain present; absolute-path prompts attach the basket.
- [ ] Record a shortcut, confirm, manually reload and inspect `/hotkeys`. Escape must leave settings unchanged.
- [ ] Oversized images are rejected, failures retain existing queued images, and no helper remains running after its lifetime limit.

Record OS/build, terminal, Node/Pi versions, monitor arrangement/scaling, outcomes and failure evidence before marking Windows verified.
