# StandalonePluginSystem Test Plan

This document outlines the test plan for the `StandalonePluginSystem` class, organized by functional category.

## Test Categories

### 1. Constructor Tests
- Constructor - accepts valid name and options
- Constructor - passes empty object for ms if not provided
- Constructor - uses provided ms if provided
- Constructor - sets defaults to [useListeners]
- Constructor - calls super with correct parameters
- Constructor - initializes as BaseSubsystem instance
- Constructor - inherits all BaseSubsystem properties

### 2. Message Flow No-Op Tests
- accept - returns Promise that resolves immediately
- accept - ignores message parameter
- accept - ignores options parameter
- accept - does not throw errors
- process - returns Promise that resolves to null
- process - ignores timeSlice parameter
- process - does not throw errors
- pause - returns this for method chaining
- pause - does not throw errors
- pause - does not require scheduler facet
- resume - returns this for method chaining
- resume - does not throw errors
- resume - does not require scheduler facet

### 3. Routing No-Op Tests
- registerRoute - returns false
- registerRoute - ignores pattern parameter
- registerRoute - ignores handler parameter
- registerRoute - ignores routeOptions parameter
- registerRoute - does not throw errors
- registerRoute - does not require router facet
- unregisterRoute - returns false
- unregisterRoute - ignores pattern parameter
- unregisterRoute - does not throw errors
- unregisterRoute - does not require router facet

### 4. Inherited Methods Tests
- build - inherits from BaseSubsystem
- build - works correctly with plugins
- dispose - inherits from BaseSubsystem
- dispose - works correctly with plugins
- use - inherits from BaseSubsystem
- use - can register plugins
- find - inherits from BaseSubsystem
- find - can find installed plugins
- onInit - inherits from BaseSubsystem
- onInit - can register init callbacks
- onDispose - inherits from BaseSubsystem
- onDispose - can register dispose callbacks

- getParent - inherits from BaseSubsystem

### 5. Default Hooks Tests
- defaults - contains useListeners hook
- defaults - is set as array
- defaults - useListeners is installed during build
- defaults - useListeners facet is available after build

### 6. Plugin System Integration Tests
- Integration - can install and use plugins
- Integration - can find installed plugins via find()
- Integration - plugins work without message system
- Integration - can use multiple plugins
- Integration - plugin dependencies are resolved
- Integration - plugin lifecycle (init/dispose) works
- Integration - can build and dispose multiple times
- Integration - works with custom hooks

### 7. No-Op Behavior Tests
- No-Op - message methods don't require facets
- No-Op - routing methods don't require facets
- No-Op - can call no-op methods before build
- No-Op - can call no-op methods after build
- No-Op - can call no-op methods after dispose
- No-Op - no-op methods don't affect system state

### 8. Edge Cases Tests
- Edge Case - works with empty config
- Edge Case - works with undefined options
- Edge Case - works with null message system
- Edge Case - works without any plugins
- Edge Case - works with only useListeners
- Edge Case - can override no-op methods in subclass

## Test File Organization

The tests will be split into separate files by category:

1. `StandalonePluginSystemConstructorTest.jsx` - Constructor tests
2. `StandalonePluginSystemMessageFlowNoOpTest.jsx` - Message flow no-op tests
3. `StandalonePluginSystemRoutingNoOpTest.jsx` - Routing no-op tests
4. `StandalonePluginSystemInheritedMethodsTest.jsx` - Inherited methods tests
5. `StandalonePluginSystemDefaultHooksTest.jsx` - Default hooks tests
6. `StandalonePluginSystemIntegrationTest.jsx` - Plugin system integration tests
7. `StandalonePluginSystemNoOpBehaviorTest.jsx` - No-op behavior tests
8. `StandalonePluginSystemEdgeCasesTest.jsx` - Edge cases tests

## Notes

- Tests should verify that StandalonePluginSystem extends BaseSubsystem correctly
- Tests should verify that no-op methods don't require facets or throw errors
- Tests should verify that useListeners is automatically installed
- Tests should verify that plugins can be installed and used without a message system
- Tests should verify that all BaseSubsystem functionality is inherited and works
- Tests should verify that no-op methods return appropriate values (false for routing, this for pause/resume, etc.)
- Tests should verify that the system works without any message processing capabilities
