[Symbol files](https://doc.log10x.com/run/symbol) provide the metadata required to transform input log events into typed [TenXObjects](https://doc.log10x.com/api/js/#tenxobject) at runtime.

To load a symbol file (e.g., `.10x.tar`) into the 10x Engine at startup, place it within a configuration [folder](https://doc.log10x.com/config/folder/), GitHub [repo](https://doc.log10x.com/config/github/), Kubernetes [ConfigMap](https://doc.log10x.com/config/k8s/), or specify its path as a command-line argument:
