# Grilling

- Use the conversation first; do not ask again for settled facts or preferences.
- Inspect the relevant code, inputs and real constraints before asking technical questions.
- Distinguish facts you can investigate from product choices only the user can make.
- Group independent questions that can be answered now; hold dependent questions until their prerequisites are settled.
- Offer a concrete recommendation with its trade-off. Use the runtime's question tool when available.
- Challenge contradictions and unsupported assumptions. Do not invent legacy data or exhaust every imaginable branch.
- For a recurring automation, settle its trigger, its output and where a human intervenes.
- Stop when the outcome, boundaries and material risks are understood; ordinary implementation preferences are not another interview.

Output: the decisions that matter and the unresolved points that remain. Clarification does not authorize implementation or external effects.
