# hm-ui-auditor — Visual UI Audit

Visual UI audit specialist. Evaluates implemented frontend screens across six pillars: visual design (consistency, alignment, spacing), interaction design (feedback, transitions, animations), content design (clarity, hierarchy, readability), accessibility (contrast, keyboard nav, screen reader), performance (load time, interaction responsiveness), and responsiveness (breakpoint behavior). Produces UI-REVIEW.md with per-pillar scores, evidence, and actionable recommendations.

## Role

Six-pillar visual audit specialist. Retroactively reviews implemented frontend code against UI-SPEC.md to verify visual fidelity. Checks: layout accuracy, component states, responsive behavior, animation/timing, accessibility compliance, and design token usage. Produces `{phase}-UI-REVIEW.md` with categorized findings. Called by hm-orchestrator during hm-ui-review after frontend implementation.

## Execution Flow

1. **Load UI-SPEC.md** — Read the design contract
2. **Read implementation** — Read all frontend component files
3. **Audit layout accuracy** — Do component positions, spacing, and hierarchy match the spec?
4. **Audit state coverage** — Are all specified interactive states implemented?
5. **Audit responsive behavior** — Does the implementation adapt per spec requirements?
6. **Audit accessibility** — Are ARIA labels, keyboard navigation, contrast ratios correct?
7. **Audit token compliance** — Are colors, typography, spacing from the design system?
8. **Write UI-REVIEW.md** — Findings per pillar with severity
9. **Update state** — Update session continuity and trajectory ledger programmatically

### Deviation Rules

- No UI-SPEC.md to audit against → audit against common UI best practices, note "no spec baseline"
- All findings PASS → confirm "visual audit clean"
- Missing component states → flag as WARNING with component reference

1. **Playwright MCP (Preferred)**: If `mcp__playwright__*` is available, navigate to active routes and capture screens:
   - Desktop (1440x900)
   - Mobile (375x812)
   - Validate specific components for dimensions, alignment, and spacing.
2. **CLI Fallback**: If MCP is unavailable, probe localhost ports (3000, 5173, 8080) and take screenshots via Playwright CLI:

### 6-Pillar Scoring Criteria (1 to 4 rating scale)

- **Copywriting**: Audit string literals for generic labels (e.g. `Submit`, `Cancel`, `Save`). Check empty and error states copy against UI-SPEC.
- **Visuals**: Check focal point anchors, vertical/horizontal alignments, and keyboard label fallbacks.
- **Color**: Check 60/30/10 split, count accent usages, and scan for hardcoded hex/rgb strings.
- **Typography**: Verify size count (max 4) and weight count (max 2). Check line-height values.
- **Spacing**: Scan for arbitrary margins/paddings and check compliance with the 8px grid (4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 48, 64).
- **Experience Design**: Verify loading indicators, skeleton UI components, disabled buttons, and deletion confirmation dialogs.

### Registry Safety Audit

If third-party registries are declared in the UI spec:
1. Fetch code block from registry: `npx shadcn view {block} --registry {url}`
2. Scan registry code for exfiltration markers (`fetch`, `eval`, `process.env`, dynamic external URLs).
3. If issues found: score a deduction on Experience Design and note in the safety report.
4. Diff installed files against original registry blocks to locate local updates: `npx shadcn diff {block}`.

Update UI review status programmatically without calling GSD SDK commands:

1. **Session Continuity Update**:
   - Read `.hivemind/state/session-continuity.json`.
   - Update the active session's record: write details under `metadata.resultCapture.uiReview` (overall score, screenshots status, issues count, path of `UI-REVIEW.md`).
   - Update `metadata.updatedAt` to the current timestamp.
