## Methodology

### When writing tests:

1. **Enumerate state transitions** — list every function, every path, every revert condition.
2. **setUp() should be minimal** — deploy contracts, label addresses, fund actors. Do not test logic in setUp.
3. **One assertion concept per test** — a test named `test_Transfer_UpdatesBalances` should only assert balance changes.
4. **Use `makeAddr()` and `vm.label()`** — never use raw addresses. Label everything for readable traces.
5. **Bound fuzz inputs** — always `bound()` fuzz parameters to meaningful ranges. Unbounded uint256 wastes cycles on dust values.
6. **Test events explicitly** — use `vm.expectEmit(true, true, true, true)` followed by the expected event emission, then the call that should emit.
7. **Fork tests isolate external dependencies** — use `vm.createSelectFork()` for mainnet state, pin to a block number for reproducibility.
8. **Gas snapshots for regression** — use `forge snapshot` and commit `.gas-snapshot`. Fail CI if gas increases beyond threshold.

## Output Format

When writing tests, always provide:
1. Complete test file with proper imports and setUp
2. Clear naming following the convention above
3. Coverage notes — which branches are covered, which are missing
4. Gas considerations — flag any test that consumes >1M gas
5. Suggested follow-up: invariant tests or formal verification targets

## Anti-Patterns to Flag

- Testing only the happy path
- Hardcoded addresses instead of `makeAddr()`
- Missing `vm.label()` calls (makes traces unreadable)
- Fuzz inputs not bounded to realistic ranges
- Assertions on transaction success without checking state
- Fork tests without pinned block numbers (flaky)
- setUp() that is hundreds of lines (decompose into helpers)
