# IPFS Integration - Summary

## What Was Added

This update adds comprehensive IPFS support to the ERC-8004 SDK, enabling users to upload, pin, and fetch content from IPFS using multiple providers.

## New Features

### 1. **IPFSClient Class** (`src/utils/ipfs.ts`)

A full-featured IPFS client supporting:

- **4 IPFS Providers:**
  - Pinata (recommended for production)
  - NFT.Storage (great for NFT content)
  - Web3.Storage (free decentralized storage)
  - Local IPFS node (for development)

- **Core Methods:**
  - `upload()` - Upload any content (string, Buffer, or Blob)
  - `uploadJSON()` - Convenient JSON upload
  - `pin()` - Pin content to ensure availability
  - `fetch()` - Retrieve content from IPFS
  - `fetchJSON()` - Fetch and parse JSON content
  - `getGatewayUrl()` - Get gateway URL for a CID

### 2. **Type Definitions**

```typescript
interface IPFSClientConfig {
  provider: 'pinata' | 'nftstorage' | 'web3storage' | 'ipfs';
  apiKey?: string;
  apiSecret?: string;
  gatewayUrl?: string;
  nodeUrl?: string;
}
interface IPFSUploadResult {
  cid: string;    // IPFS Content Identifier
  uri: string;    // ipfs:// URI
  url: string;    // Gateway URL
  size?: number;  // File size in bytes
}
```

### 3. **Factory Function**

```typescript
createIPFSClient(config: IPFSClientConfig): IPFSClient
```

## Files Added/Modified

### New Files:
- `examples/testIPFS.ts` - Comprehensive examples
- `docs/IPFS_GUIDE.md` - Full documentation
- `.env.example` - Environment variable template

### Modified Files:
- `src/utils/ipfs.ts` - Added IPFSClient class
- `src/index.ts` - Exported new IPFS functionality
- `README.md` - Updated with IPFS section

## Usage Examples

### Basic Upload

```typescript
import { createIPFSClient } from 'erc-8004-js';
const ipfs = createIPFSClient({
  provider: 'pinata',
  apiKey: process.env.PINATA_API_KEY,
  apiSecret: process.env.PINATA_API_SECRET,
});
const result = await ipfs.uploadJSON({
  name: 'My Agent',
  description: 'An AI agent',
});
console.log(result.uri); // ipfs://Qm...
```

### Register Agent with IPFS

```typescript
// 1. Upload agent data to IPFS
const agentData = {
  type: 'https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-8004#registration-v1',
  name: 'GPT-4 Agent',
  endpoints: [/* ... */],
};
const result = await ipfs.uploadJSON(agentData);
// 2. Register with IPFS URI
await client.identity.registerWithURI(result.uri);
```

### Submit Feedback with IPFS Evidence

```typescript
// Upload detailed feedback
const feedbackData = {
  task: 'task-123',
  performance: { accuracy: 0.95 },
  evidence: [/* ... */],
};
const result = await ipfs.uploadJSON(feedbackData);
// Submit feedback with IPFS reference
await client.reputation.submitFeedback({
  agentId: 123,
  score: 95,
  fileuri: result.uri,
  // ...
});
```

## Provider Comparison

| Provider | Best For | Free Tier | Pinning | Setup Difficulty |
|----------|----------|-----------|---------|------------------|
| **Pinata** | Production | ✅ 1GB | ✅ Yes | Easy |
| **NFT.Storage** | NFT content | ✅ Unlimited | ✅ Automatic | Very Easy |
| **Web3.Storage** | Web3 apps | ✅ Unlimited | ✅ Automatic | Very Easy |
| **Local IPFS** | Development | ✅ Unlimited | ✅ Yes | Medium |

## Getting Started

1. **Choose a provider** - Pinata recommended for production
2. **Get API credentials** - Sign up and get your keys
3. **Set environment variables:**

```bash
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env with your credentials
```

4. **Use in your code:**

```typescript
import { createIPFSClient } from 'erc-8004-js';
const ipfs = createIPFSClient({
  provider: 'pinata',
  apiKey: process.env.PINATA_API_KEY,
  apiSecret: process.env.PINATA_API_SECRET,
});
```

## Documentation

- **Full Guide:** `docs/IPFS_GUIDE.md` - Complete documentation with all providers
- **Examples:** `examples/testIPFS.ts` - Working code examples
- **API Docs:** See inline JSDoc comments in `src/utils/ipfs.ts`

## Benefits

1. **Decentralized Storage** - Content is distributed across IPFS network
2. **Content Addressing** - Same content = same CID (verifiable)
3. **Censorship Resistant** - No single point of failure
4. **Cost Effective** - Free tiers available from multiple providers
5. **ERC-8004 Compatible** - Designed for agent metadata and feedback

## Migration Guide

If you were using custom IPFS solutions, migration is simple:

### Before:
```typescript
// Custom upload logic
const formData = new FormData();
formData.append('file', blob);
const response = await fetch('https://api.pinata.cloud/...', {
  method: 'POST',
  headers: { /* ... */ },
  body: formData,
});
```

### After:
```typescript
// Use SDK
const result = await ipfs.upload(blob, { name: 'file.json' });
```

## Testing

Run the example:
```bash
# Set up environment variables first
npm run build
npx ts-node examples/testIPFS.ts
```
