## What this project does NOT do

The Apache-2.0 grant above covers **the source code of this project**, and nothing else.
On top of that, the project deliberately stays out of several areas:

- **It does not host, mirror, proxy or distribute any video.** Nothing is uploaded to a server.
  The only thing it learns about your playback is the number `<video>.currentTime` reports,
  and it stays in a local file (`position.json`) that expires in five seconds.
- **The browser extension does not read page content.** It sends `pos / dur / title / url /
  paused / ended` for the **visible tab only**, to `http://127.0.0.1:9377`. No analytics, no
  remote endpoint, no page text, no cookies.
- **No DRM circumvention, no paywall or region-lock bypass.** It never fetches the video stream
  itself to watch it — it watches whatever your own browser is already playing.
- **No TTS engine is bundled.** The example adapter shells out to whatever `edge-tts` /
  `ffplay` / system speech engine you installed. Voice names, availability and the terms of use
  of those services belong to their providers (e.g. Microsoft Edge's online voices).
- **You are responsible for what you point it at.** Downloading subtitles or a video for
  storyboarding goes through your own `yt-dlp` and your own credentials.

## Third-party components

Nothing third-party is vendored into this repository. At runtime the package *uses*, but does
not redistribute:

## Documentation media

The extension icons under `extension/icons/` were generated for this project. No third-party
footage, model weights or binaries are redistributed in this repository.
