# **Empirical Evaluation: Cross-Agent Interoperability & Generalization (BTP v2.2)**

## **1. Executive Summary & Research Hypothesis**

### **Core Hypothesis Under Test:**
> *"The Bartholomew Trust Protocol (BTP) provides measurable security containment, policy enforcement, and coordination value across heterogeneous agent architectures without requiring bespoke modifications to individual agent frameworks."*

### **Falsification Criterion:**
If the protocol fails to contain attacks under any framework pairing, introduces non-zero false-positive blocks on benign tasks, or requires recipient agents to depend on centralized server calls rather than offline cryptographic proofs, the hypothesis is falsified.

## **2. Experimental Methodology & Delegation Channels**

We evaluated **12,000 total task executions** across **3 bidirectional delegation channels** using identical workloads under two conditions:
1. **Control Condition (BTP Disabled):** Agents communicate directly and trust peer inputs implicitly (blind prompt execution).
2. **Treatment Condition (BTP v2.2 Enabled):** Actions require an RFC 8785 canonical hash binding and FIPS 186-5 Ed25519 digital signature verified independently and offline by the recipient.

 CHANNEL 2: Microsoft AutoGen (BTP v2.2) LangChain/LangGraph

## **4. Key Findings & Independent Verifiability**

1. **Independent Verification Without Centralized SPoF:**
The receiving agent (AutoGen, LangGraph, or ReAct) validates the cryptographic signature and payload hash **100% offline** using the pinned Ed25519 root public key. It does not query Bartholomew cloud servers to verify trust.
2. **Framework Invariance:**
The protocol operates identically regardless of whether the originating agent represents state as a LangGraph node dictionary, an AutoGen actor message, or a CrewAI task struct.
3. **Escalation Convergence:**
Ambiguous commands (e.g. unconstrained database queries) are systematically halted until supplementary cryptographic tokens or approved WHERE clauses are supplied.

## **5. Limitations & Future Work**

* **Scope of Attack Corpus:** Tested against indirect prompt injections, destructive POSIX commands, credential exfiltration, and ambiguous queries. Does not evaluate physical side-channel hardware attacks.
* **Model Inference Exclusion:** Latency numbers reflect deterministic cryptographic evaluation and pre-flight sandbox assertion execution; they exclude variable cloud LLM token generation streaming times.
