# Fire Hydrants

## What to look for
- **Cylindrical body** — barrel-shaped metal post, usually knee-height
- **Bonnet/cap** — dome or pentagon-shaped top
- **Nozzles/outlets** — 2-3 side outlets (hose connections) with caps
- **Bright color** — typically red, yellow, or orange
- **Base** — wider base bolted to sidewalk or ground
- **Chain** — sometimes has chains connecting caps to body

## Common false positives (DO NOT select)
- Mailboxes (different shape, usually blue or green)
- Trash cans or bollards
- Parking meters
- Street signs posts
- Decorative pillars

## Edge cases
- Old-style hydrant (different shape) — still has the distinctive barrel + nozzles
- Hydrant partially behind object — look for the color and shape
- Hydrant at distance — small but distinctive colored post
- Snow-covered hydrant — shape still visible under snow
