# Crosswalks

## What to look for
- **White parallel stripes** painted on road — usually 4-8 thick white lines
- **Zebra pattern** — alternating white and dark stripes
- **Pedestrian markings** — sometimes includes walking person symbols
- **Intersection context** — usually at road crossings, near traffic lights
- **Stop lines** — thick white line before the crosswalk

## Common false positives (DO NOT select)
- Road lane markings (single or dashed lines, not parallel stripes)
- Shadows that look like stripes
- Railroad crossing markings (X pattern, different)
- Construction zone markings (orange/yellow, not white)
- Parking lot lines

## Edge cases
- Crosswalk at angle/distorted — still has parallel stripe pattern
- Faded crosswalk — look for remnant white stripes
- Crosswalk partially covered by vehicle — count visible portion
- Crosswalk with colored pavement — some cities use red/brick patterns
