# Technical writing — Method guidance

**Method:** `technical-writing@1`
**Purpose:** Produce clear technical content for a defined audience.
**Required inputs:** subject matter; audience; required format
**Expected outputs:** technical document; source references

Apply every section below to the document before reporting the work done — content that is
accurate but pitched at the wrong audience, or that skips a required section, is not finished.

## Accuracy

Check every technical statement's accuracy against its source material or the actual system it
describes, before publishing the document, rather than paraphrasing from memory. Correct a
statement the moment you cannot trace it back to a specific source or observation.

## Audience fit

Define content and terminology alike against the stated audience's actual background, not a
generic reader. Use terms the audience already knows and explain any term the audience is
unlikely to already know.

## Structural completeness

Confirm the document's structure follows the required format and includes every section that
format calls for, before calling it done, with no section silently omitted because it was
harder to write. Check the document against the format's own checklist, not against your memory
of the format.
