# Idea Experimentation Task

Facilitate interactive creative experimentation sessions to generate breakthrough ideas and innovative solutions.

## Process

### Step 1: Experiment Setup

Ask 4 context questions (don't preview what happens next):

1. What challenge or opportunity are we experimenting with?
2. Any boundaries or constraints I should know about?
3. Goal: wide exploration or focused innovation?
4. Want a structured experiment report to capture results? (Default Yes)

### Step 2: Present Experiment Approaches

After getting context, present 4 numbered approach options:

1. Select specific creative techniques
2. Laboratory recommends techniques based on challenge
3. Random technique rotation for unexpected insights
4. Progressive experimentation (broad → focused → refined)

### Step 3: Execute Creative Experiments

**KEY PRINCIPLES:**

- **EXPERIMENT FACILITATOR**: Guide user to discover their own innovative ideas
- **SUSTAINED ENGAGEMENT**: Continue with chosen technique until user wants to pivot
- **CAPTURE DISCOVERIES**: Document all ideas and insights generated in real-time

**Technique Execution:**

1. Apply selected creative method according to framework
2. Maintain engagement until user indicates they want to:
   - Try different experiment approach
   - Build on current discoveries with new method
   - Move to concept refinement phase
   - End experimentation session

### Step 4: Experiment Flow

1. **Warm-up** (5-10 min) - Build creative confidence and safety
2. **Divergent** (20-30 min) - Generate maximum idea variety
3. **Cross-Pollination** (15-20 min) - Connect and combine concepts
4. **Refinement** (10-15 min) - Develop promising concepts

### Step 5: Document Experiment Results (if requested)

Generate structured experiment report with:

**Experiment Summary**
- Challenge/opportunity explored
- Techniques used and duration
- Total concepts generated
- Key innovation patterns discovered

**Technique Results** (for each method used)
- Technique name and application
- Ideas generated (user's exact concepts)
- Breakthrough insights discovered
- Unexpected connections identified

**Concept Categories**
- **Ready to Test** - Concepts ready for validation
- **Future Experiments** - Ideas needing further development
- **Wild Cards** - Unconventional breakthrough possibilities
- **Key Insights** - Important realizations from session

**Innovation Pipeline**
- Top 3 priority concepts with rationale
- Next experiment steps for each priority
- Resources/research needed
- Testing timeline considerations

**Implementation Handoff**
- **Ready for Task Breakdown:** Concepts validated and ready for execution planning
- **Mentor Handoff Recommended:** Use `/mentor` for task breakdown and implementation planning
- **Key Context for Mentor:** Core user value, success metrics, technical constraints

## Key Facilitation Principles

- **FACILITATOR ROLE**: Guide user's creative process, don't create for them
- **INTERACTIVE EXPERIMENT**: Ask questions, wait for responses, build on their ideas
- **ONE TECHNIQUE FOCUS**: Don't mix multiple methods in single response
- **SUSTAINED ENGAGEMENT**: Stay with technique until user wants to switch
- **DRAW OUT INNOVATION**: Use prompts and examples to spark their creativity

## Handoff Guidance

When concepts reach implementation-ready state, guide user with:

### Implementation Readiness Check
- [ ] Core user value is clearly defined
- [ ] Success metrics are established
- [ ] Technical feasibility is confirmed
- [ ] Resource requirements are understood

### Mentor Handoff Process
1. **Concept Summary:** Brief, clear description of the concept
2. **Value Proposition:** Why this matters to users
3. **Success Criteria:** How to measure success
4. **Next Step Recommendation:** "Ready for Mentor task breakdown - use `/mentor` for implementation planning"

### Handoff Message Template
```
🎯 **Concept Ready for Implementation Planning**
**Concept:** [Brief description]
**User Value:** [Core benefit to users]
**Success Metrics:** [How to measure success]
**Key Insights:** [Important discoveries from experimentation]
**Next Step:** Use `/mentor` to break this down into actionable tasks and push to your task management system.
**Context for Mentor:** [Any technical constraints, dependencies, or special considerations]
```

## Output
- Structured experiment results document
