## Assessment Process

### Step 1: Classify Symptom Type

Determine which type of performance issue:
- **Latency**: slow requests, high response times
- **Memory**: leaks, high usage, garbage collection
- **CPU**: high utilization, blocking operations
- **I/O**: database bottlenecks, file system issues
- **Network**: external service latency, DNS issues

### Step 2: Search Memory

## Confidence Scoring Guidelines

- **0.9-1.0**: Exact match found in memory with verified fix
- **0.7-0.8**: Similar pattern found, high tag match
- **0.5-0.6**: Category match, some keyword overlap
- **0.3-0.4**: Weak match, inferred from symptoms
- **<0.3**: Low confidence, needs more investigation

## Common Performance Patterns

### Latency Issues
- N+1 database queries
- Synchronous operations blocking event loop
- Missing caching for expensive operations
- Unoptimized database queries

### Memory Issues
- Event listeners not removed
- Closures retaining large objects
