# Build an image sequence with a purpose

ID: cmp-image-sequence. Sources: [S07](https://www.pentagram.com/work/hiut), [S17](https://web.dev/learn/design/picture-element).

Teach editing across complementary images: context, detail, people, process, and outcome. Use actual inventory relationships. One good image can suffice; a mosaic does not justify redundant images.

Application A: whole project, close detail, then a supported explanation. Application B: a product range uses consistent scale for comparison, with a material detail where useful.

Counterexample: arbitrary tile sizes imply unsupported priority, or unordered images imply chronology.

Mobile: retain sequence and captions. A carousel must not conceal the only significant proof; static sequences are valid.

Storyboard: identify each asset's contribution and relationship to neighbors. Review: assess whether the sequence communicates more than its individual images, at actual reading scale rather than by image count.

## Authority and use

This is an original design-teaching hypothesis. It is advisory and does not change factual, accessibility, or functional requirements. Adapt it to verified business evidence and inspect the current render before accepting an outcome. The applications above are contrasting examples, not copyable site presets.
