# Purposeful visual production

Opt-in `launch.json.artDirection`: `{"mode":"media-v1","release":"2026-10-05.1"}`. This checkpoint follows accepted direction and precedes final storyboard. Legacy sites keep their graph.

Read current inventory, supported business facts, direction and reference analysis. Keep early audit conclusions as source evidence. Write `onboarding/visual-asset-brief.json` version 1, pinned policyHash/businessHash/directionHash, a system (palette, lightMaterial, geometry, stroke, captionVoice, motion), and consequential commissions. Each needs id, purpose, route, factIds, sourceAssetIds, role, medium, idea, composition, responsive desktop/mobile/minimumReadableSize, acceptance, fallback, forbiddenImplications and referenceRelationships. Text-only is valid; no universal media count. Planned imagery is not available evidence. Keep selected reference relationships visible, without reproducing external publisher images.

Search accepted stock first using subject/context/detail/metaphor/composition/palette/negative space/lighting and exclusions. Inspect contact sheets, then finalists at intended size. Select complementary scales and coherent light/material, with source captions that cannot imply customer identity. Missing observations remain uncertain. Bounded site acquisition uses `vitris-art acquire --record FILE`; never publish site acquisitions into the shared catalog. Retain query, originals, rights and source records. Credit Pexels and photographers for API acquisitions per provider guidelines.

Create expressive rasters with an available host tool; save bytes and actual prompt into artwork/. No configured tool means an explicit unavailable result and appropriate vector/stock/text fallback. Use editable SVG for geometry and semantic HTML for diagrams. Labels, arrow direction and supported relationships must survive mobile reflow. Supply adjacent equivalent text. Never invent customer people, buildings, products or results.

Register with `vitris-art register --site . --record FILE` and the exact active preparationId. Records require operationId, requestId, input, sourcePath, method, tool, rights, forbiddenImplications; derivatives also require parent asset IDs. Use a new operation ID for a revision, preserving prior accepted bytes, recipes and parents. Registration leaves assets retained/uninspected. Inspect actual pixels, pin inspection.assetHash, dimensions, descriptive observations and evidence; then set use/placements. No invented tool model, seed, cost or generation receipt.

Write `onboarding/asset-production.json` version 1 with briefHash and one decision per commission: requestId, assetIds, outcome accepted/fallback, reason and evidence[{path,sha256,level:asset/crop/section/page,viewport,observation}]. Full-asset evidence is required here. Storyboard and final browser/quality stages review intended crops, sections and full pages at desktop/mobile; this checkpoint does not claim future page inspection. Use at most two treatments and two repair attempts per consequential commission within existing budgets.

Complete via the ordinary preparation command. Later new material routes through `vitris-art revise --record FILE`, invalidating source and render reviews before a fresh production preparation. Creative revision must not write inventory. Placement changes reopen storyboard and dependents; new illustrations/derivatives reopen production; factual/new customer evidence reopens business and dependent audit. Unknown impact reopens media. Keep unaffected facts, source evidence, history and usage.
