# DOCX Engine

**DOCX Engine is proprietary software. It is not open source.**

Use, installation, import, execution, copying, or distribution of this package is
permitted only under the DOCX Engine Proprietary License Agreement
(see [`DOCX-ENGINE-LICENSE.md`](./DOCX-ENGINE-LICENSE.md)) or a separate written
agreement with SuperDoc.

By installing, importing, executing, copying, or otherwise using this package, you
agree to the DOCX Engine Proprietary License Agreement, including restrictions on
reverse engineering, deobfuscation, redistribution, AI-assisted reconstruction, and
competitive cloning.

## Install

You do not install DOCX Engine directly. It is a dependency of the `superdoc`
package and is installed automatically when you install SuperDoc:

```bash
npm install superdoc
```

Installing `superdoc` pulls in DOCX Engine transitively. Using SuperDoc constitutes
use of DOCX Engine and is governed by the license below. For the full terms, see the
DOCX Engine documentation page: https://docs.superdoc.dev/resources/docx-engine-license

## What is DOCX Engine?

DOCX Engine is a proprietary package that the SuperDoc editor depends on. It is
distributed as part of a SuperDoc installation rather than installed on its own, and
it is governed by its own proprietary license. SuperDoc remains available
separately as open source under AGPLv3. DOCX Engine is licensed, not open source.
