# How to add a new theme

**Step 1: Create**

Add a file for you theme in the themes directory: example `src/themes/yourTheme.js`;

Add at least the following code to the file

```
module.exports = {
    name: 'your-theme-name',
```

**Step 2: Generate**

Regenerate the theme `index.js` file by running `npm run themes:prep`.

This only has to be done once after you have added your theme.

Remember to commit this file when you commit your theme file.

**Step 3: Customize**

Override any properties in your theme file. See `src/themes/baseTheme.js` for available props. The schema should match exactly.

**Step 4: Brand**

Save a copy of a favicon in `src/themes/favicons` and logo `src/themes/logos/`

**Step 5: Hold Onto Your Pants**

You're also going to want to look at  src/components/iconFactory/icons.js and add your theme specific chevrons in there

* Configure your theme in the `createIconThemeVariantsMap` function
* Create a chevron and

**Step 6: Verify**

Open Storybook, go to a component then click on your theme in the Themes tab.
