# Requirements Document

## Introduction

This document specifies the requirements for increasing test coverage of the RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) TypeScript library. The goal is to achieve a minimum of 95% coverage across all metrics (statements, branches, functions, lines), with special focus on uncovered branches in the `helpers.ts`, `middlewares/*`, and `rbac.ts` files.

## Glossary

- **Test_Coverage**: Metric indicating the percentage of code executed during tests
- **Branch_Coverage**: Metric indicating the percentage of conditional paths (if/else, switch, etc.) tested
- **Statement_Coverage**: Metric indicating the percentage of code statements executed
- **Function_Coverage**: Metric indicating the percentage of functions executed
- **Line_Coverage**: Metric indicating the percentage of code lines executed
- **Edge_Case**: Extreme or unusual situation that may cause unexpected behavior
- **Error_Path**: Execution path that handles error conditions or exceptions
- **RBAC_Library**: Role-Based Access Control library
- **Middleware**: Intermediate function that processes requests in web frameworks
- **Color_Support**: Terminal capability to display ANSI color codes

## Requirements

### Requirement 1: Increase Branch Coverage in helpers.ts

**User Story:** As a developer, I want the helpers.ts file to have branch coverage above 95%, so that all conditional paths are tested.

#### Acceptance Criteria

1. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report branch coverage above 95% for helpers.ts
2. WHEN the supportsColor function is tested, THE Test_Suite SHALL cover all color support detection paths
3. WHEN environment variables are configured, THE Test_Suite SHALL test FORCE_COLOR, NO_COLOR, and CI environments
4. WHEN process.stdout is not available, THE Test_Suite SHALL test fallback behavior
5. WHEN errors occur during color detection, THE Test_Suite SHALL test exception handling

### Requirement 2: Increase Branch Coverage in middlewares

**User Story:** As a developer, I want middlewares to have branch coverage above 95%, so that all authorization scenarios are tested.

#### Acceptance Criteria

1. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report branch coverage above 95% for middlewares
2. WHEN getRole is provided in options, THE Middleware SHALL use the custom function to obtain the role
3. WHEN getParams is provided in options, THE Middleware SHALL use the custom function to obtain parameters
4. WHEN onDenied is provided in options, THE Middleware SHALL execute the custom callback when denying access
5. WHEN errors occur during permission verification, THE Express_Middleware SHALL call next with the error
6. WHEN errors occur during permission verification, THE Nest_Middleware SHALL call next with the error
7. WHEN errors occur during permission verification, THE Fastify_Middleware SHALL handle the error appropriately

### Requirement 3: Increase Branch Coverage in rbac.ts

**User Story:** As a developer, I want the rbac.ts file to have branch coverage above 95%, so that all permission verification scenarios are tested.

#### Acceptance Criteria

1. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report branch coverage above 95% for rbac.ts
2. WHEN logger is undefined in config, THE RBAC SHALL use the defaultLogger
3. WHEN enableLogger is false, THE RBAC SHALL not execute logging
4. WHEN a role does not exist, THE RBAC SHALL return false without errors
5. WHEN pattern cache contains a result, THE RBAC SHALL reuse the cached result

### Requirement 4: Test Edge Cases and Error Paths

**User Story:** As a developer, I want all edge cases and error paths to be tested, so that the library is robust in unusual situations.

#### Acceptance Criteria

1. WHEN invalid values are passed to functions, THE Test_Suite SHALL verify appropriate handling
2. WHEN the environment does not support expected features, THE Test_Suite SHALL verify appropriate fallbacks
3. WHEN asynchronous operations fail, THE Test_Suite SHALL verify error handling
4. WHEN caches are empty or full, THE Test_Suite SHALL verify correct behavior
5. WHEN configurations are omitted, THE Test_Suite SHALL verify appropriate default values

### Requirement 5: Maintain Function Coverage at 100%

**User Story:** As a developer, I want to maintain function coverage at 100%, so that all functions are executed during tests.

#### Acceptance Criteria

1. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report function coverage of 100%
2. WHEN new functions are added, THE Test_Suite SHALL include tests for them
3. WHEN existing functions are modified, THE Test_Suite SHALL maintain coverage

### Requirement 6: Achieve Global Coverage Target

**User Story:** As a developer, I want the project to achieve a minimum of 95% coverage across all metrics, to ensure code quality and reliability.

#### Acceptance Criteria

1. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report statements coverage >= 95%
2. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report branches coverage >= 95%
3. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report functions coverage >= 95%
4. WHEN tests are executed, THE Test_Coverage SHALL report lines coverage >= 95%
5. WHEN the coverage report is generated, THE Test_Suite SHALL clearly identify uncovered areas
