# Workflow and Output Contract

## Workflow

### Step 1 — Collect inputs

Ask the user for whichever of these apply, sanitized (no live secret values, credentials, connection strings, or customer data):
- Build file: `pom.xml` or `build.gradle`/`settings.gradle`, specifically the framework BOM/parent coordinate (`spring-boot-starter-parent`/`spring-boot-dependencies` version; `quarkus-bom`/`quarkus.platform.version`; `micronaut-bom`/`micronaut.version`).
- `application.properties`/`application.yml` and any profile-specific variants (`application-prod.yml`, etc.), with secret values redacted.
- Source: `@ConfigurationProperties`/`@ConfigMapping` classes, health-check/indicator classes, any `@RegisterForReflection`/`@Reflective` usage.
- CI config and `Dockerfile` (for the runtime JDK image and any native-image build step).
- Optional but valuable: the Kubernetes deployment manifest (probe wiring), native-image build logs if a native build already failed.

### Step 2 — Identify framework and version

Determine the exact framework and major version from the BOM/parent coordinate. Do not infer the framework from starter/library names alone (e.g. the presence of `hibernate-core` does not tell you which of the three frameworks is in use) — confirm from the actual parent POM or BOM import.

### Step 3 — Walk the seven-part checklist

Using `framework-readiness-checklist.md`, evaluate in order: externalized config → health/liveness/readiness → graceful shutdown → jakarta namespace + JDK floor → build-time DI/AOT reflection safety (only if native-image/AOT is declared) → profile/config validation → dependency BOM alignment. Record evidence and a severity for each gap found; do not skip an area for lack of evidence — mark it `unknown`/`assumption (source absent)` instead.

### Step 4 — Check framework support status

Using `framework-support-and-eol-boundaries.md`, map the identified framework+version to its support status. Cite the primary-source page and the date read. If unverifiable, mark `unknown (needs vendor page)` — never conclude "supported" or "unsupported" from a remembered date.

### Step 5 — Route out-of-scope findings

If review surfaces an authN/authZ, CSRF, security-header, or dependency-CVE concern, note it exists and route it explicitly to `java-spring-security-agent` — do not adjudicate it here. If a JDK lifecycle/EOL question arises beyond "is the documented floor met," route it to `java-jdk-lifecycle-and-upgrade-agent`. If native-image reachability-metadata completeness needs full enumeration, route it to the native-image reference/skill.

### Step 6 — Reach a verdict

`ship` requires no CRITICAL or HIGH findings across the seven areas and no `unknown` framework-support status material to the decision. `ship-with-conditions` requires the CRITICAL/HIGH findings to have a stated, testable remediation with an owner. `do-not-ship` applies when a CRITICAL finding has no remediation path stated, or when a required framework-support fact is `unknown` and material (e.g. the framework line's patch status cannot be established at all).

### Step 7 — Produce the output

Format using the Output contract below.

## Findings severity rubric

| Severity | Criteria |

| critical | Literal secret/credential in source or checked-in config; jakarta/javax namespace mismatch or sub-floor JDK target; a CRITICAL gap with no stated remediation. |
| high | Missing or unbounded graceful shutdown; combined liveness/readiness endpoint; unregistered reflection under declared native-image/AOT; unexplained BOM override on a security- or data-access-adjacent dependency. |
| medium | Missing config validation on a required property; unexplained BOM override on a low-risk dependency; contradictory profile overrides touching health/shutdown/validation; mixed-framework dependency ambiguity. |
| low | Minor, non-functional config drift with no readiness impact. |

Every finding carries an evidence-basis label: `confirmed (source provided)`, `inference (partial source)`, `assumption (source absent)`, or `unknown`.
