# Releasing

## Prerequisites

- Your npm user will need to be registered as a colloborator on the project
- Your npm user must be logged in on your machine (`npm login`)

## Steps

To create a new version of the package, and publish it on npm:

- create a new version (see [here](https://docs.npmjs.com/cli/version))
    - `npm version [<newversion> | major | minor | patch | premajor | preminor | prepatch | prerelease | from-git]`
    - e.g. `npm version minor`
- push the new version to the repo, with the new version tag
    - `git push --tags`
- publish a new version on npm
    - `npm publish`
