# Precis — template

An engagement-unit aggregation (ARD SPEC §10.2), authored **from raw** (not from the attestation or orientation notes — strict layer-directionality). Lives at `.research/precis/<slug>.md`. Source-coherent; the engagement unit is the smallest source-scope at which the source constructs a coherent whole, identified by reading.

Paraphrase of the section's load-bearing claims. For a **material claim** a downstream synthesis will cite, anchor against the raw source (carry a source-internal anchor) rather than translating a prior paraphrase.

Discipline: track the source's own section structure; no project framing; no cross-source comparison (that is analytical-tier). Re-read the raw for material claims rather than paraphrasing a paraphrase (within-translation drift).
