# Image Editing - Single Reference

## When to use this guide

Read this guide when `task_mode=image_editing` and the user is editing one source image.

## Style behavior

Default to `style_policy=preserve_source_style`.

Do not prepend `global_style` from the production bible unless the user explicitly asks to restyle or to match the project look.

## Core edit rule

Change only what the user asked to change. Preserve everything else unless the user explicitly requests broader changes.

## Prompt pattern

```text
Edit only the requested area or object. Apply the user's requested change. Keep the rest of the image, composition, lighting, perspective, subject identity, wardrobe, background, and framing unchanged.
```

## Required preservation checks

Preserve by default:
- composition
- camera angle
- lighting
- perspective
- identity and facial structure
- wardrobe and props outside the edit scope
- background and framing
- source style and aspect ratio

## ROI handling

If the user provides a mask, red box, highlighted area, or bounding region:
- treat it as the authoritative `edit_scope`
- focus the edit there first
- call out that untouched regions must remain unchanged

## Precedence

For direct edits, resolve inputs in this order:
1. explicit user edit request
2. ROI / mask / highlighted area
3. explicit user preservation constraints
4. source-image visual truth
5. production-bible style only under `user_requested_restyle`

## Anti-drift rules

- keep local edits local
- do not recompose the whole scene for a small change
- do not add narrative, mood, or stylistic interpretation unless requested
- if the user wording is already clear, use it nearly as-is
