# Fio Character Asset License Version 1.0 Copyright © DOLL Project / Ludi. All rights reserved except as expressly permitted by this license. This license applies to visual and character assets depicting **Fio**, including, but not limited to: - character illustrations - sprite sheets - animation frames - icons - portraits - character design assets - derivative visual assets distributed as part of the official Fio asset package These assets are referred to collectively as the **“Fio Assets.”** Software source code, configuration files, schemas, loaders, renderers, and other non-character software components are not covered by this license unless explicitly stated otherwise. --- ## 1. Permitted Uses You may use the Fio Assets for the following purposes: ### 1.1 Use with Supported Software You may display and use the Fio Assets with: - pi-console - Codex-compatible pet runtimes - other compatible software for personal use You may make technical modifications reasonably necessary for such use, including resizing, format conversion, atlas conversion, cropping, compression, and animation integration. ### 1.2 Personal Modification You may modify the Fio Assets for your own personal use. Examples include: - alternate expressions - animation adjustments - color adjustments - sprite-sheet conversion - layout changes required by compatible runtimes Modified assets remain subject to this license. ### 1.3 Videos, Streaming, and Screenshots You may display the Fio Assets in: - livestreams - recorded videos - screenshots - social media posts - articles - demonstrations - software reviews - development logs Monetization of such content is permitted. This includes advertising revenue, platform revenue sharing, subscriptions, donations, and similar forms of creator monetization. ### 1.4 Redistribution with pi-console You may redistribute the Fio Assets as part of an original or modified distribution of **pi-console**, provided that: 1. the Fio Assets remain part of the pi-console distribution; 2. this license file is included; 3. the copyright and attribution notices are preserved; 4. the Fio Assets are not presented as being licensed under the software license that applies to pi-console source code; and 5. the distribution does not imply that the distributor is the official creator or operator of Fio or DOLL. Forks of pi-console may therefore retain the bundled Fio Assets under these conditions. --- ## 2. Prohibited Uses You may not: ### 2.1 Standalone Redistribution Redistribute the Fio Assets, modified or unmodified, as a standalone asset package. Examples include: - `fio-sprites.zip` - downloadable sprite collections - asset repositories whose primary purpose is distributing Fio artwork - mirrors of the Fio Assets unrelated to pi-console ### 2.2 Redistribution in Unrelated Products Include the Fio Assets in another application, game, service, library, template, character pack, or unrelated product without separate permission from the rights holder. Compatibility with the same pet or sprite format does not by itself grant redistribution permission. ### 2.3 Asset Resale Sell, license, sublicense, rent, or otherwise commercially distribute the Fio Assets themselves. This includes selling: - sprite sheets - character asset packs - downloadable illustrations - templates primarily containing Fio - NFTs or equivalent tokenized representations whose principal value is the Fio artwork ### 2.4 Official Impersonation Use the Fio Assets in a manner that falsely represents or materially implies that: - you are the official creator of Fio; - your project is an official DOLL project; - your service is endorsed by DOLL Project / Ludi; or - an unofficial derivative work is an official version of Fio. ### 2.5 Prohibited Content You may not use the Fio Assets for: - sexually explicit or R18 content; - extreme gore or R18G content; - content primarily intended to damage, deceive about, or impersonate Fio, DOLL, or their official activities; - unlawful content. --- ## 3. Commercial Use Commercial use is permitted when the Fio Assets appear incidentally or as part of content created using supported software. Examples of permitted commercial use include: - monetized livestreams - monetized videos - paid articles or tutorials - commercial software demonstrations - screenshots used in reviews or promotional material for pi-console This license does **not** permit commercial exploitation of the Fio Assets themselves as a product or downloadable asset. In simple terms: > You may monetize content made with Fio. > You may not sell Fio as an asset. --- ## 4. Derivative Works You may create derivative visual works of the Fio Assets for personal use and for use in content permitted by this license. You may not independently redistribute derivative Fio assets as reusable character assets unless you have separate permission from DOLL Project / Ludi. A derivative work does not become freely redistributable merely because it has been modified. --- ## 5. Attribution When redistribution is permitted under this license, the following attribution must be retained: > Fio — DOLL Project / Ludi A link to the official project page may be included where appropriate, but is not required unless separately specified by the distributor. Attribution is not required every time Fio appears in a livestream, screenshot, social media post, or video. --- ## 6. Software License Separation The Fio Assets are **not** automatically licensed under the open-source license that applies to pi-console or any other accompanying software. For example, if pi-console is distributed under the MIT License or Apache License 2.0, those licenses apply only to the software components identified as being covered by them. The Fio Assets remain governed by this Fio Character Asset License. --- ## 7. No Trademark Rights This license does not grant ownership of or unrestricted rights to any names, logos, branding, or trademarks associated with: - Fio - DOLL - Digital Origin Learning Lifeform Any permitted use of such names is limited to identifying the character, project, compatibility, or source of the assets. --- ## 8. No Endorsement Permission to use the Fio Assets does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or affiliation with DOLL Project / Ludi. --- ## 9. Termination Your rights under this license terminate automatically if you materially violate its terms. If the violation can reasonably be corrected, your rights may be restored once the violation has been fully corrected. DOLL Project / Ludi reserves the right to pursue remedies for intentional or repeated violations. --- ## 10. Disclaimer The Fio Assets are provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind.
