## STEP-01: Implement Issue #001 - Output Path Bug Fix
### Pre-Execution
**Objective**: Fix `prepareOutputPath` to distinguish between file paths (ending in audio extension) and directory paths

- Simple extension detection will correctly identify user intent

   - Rewrote `prepareOutputPath(outputPath)` to:
     - Check if path has audio extension → treat as filename, create parent dir
     - Otherwise → treat as directory, generate filename

## STEP-02: Implement Issue #003 - Silent Timeout with No Partial Output
### Pre-Execution
**Objective**: Add configurable timeout and progressive chunk saving so partial output is preserved on timeout

2. `src/bridge/client.ts` - Add timeout configuration to `generate()` function

- Server generates each chunk, holds in memory, concatenates at end (verified)

**Hypotheses**:
- Progressive saving: save each chunk to temp file immediately after generation
- Abort mechanism: client sends abort request via new protocol method
- Server concatenates available chunks on abort/timeout

**Questions**:
1. How complex is adding abort handling? Need new protocol method + server-side state tracking
2. Should chunks be saved to disk or kept in memory until abort? Disk is safer for partial recovery

1. **Updated `src/bridge/protocol.ts`** ✓
   - Extended `GenerateResult` interface with new fields:
     - `complete?: boolean` - whether generation completed fully
     - `chunks_generated?: number` - chunks that were generated
     - `chunks_total?: number` - total chunks planned
     - `reason?: string` - reason for partial completion

2. **Updated `src/bridge/client.ts`** ✓
   - Modified `generate()` function to accept optional `timeoutMs` parameter
   - Added logic: `timeout === 0` means "no timeout" (uses 24-hour timeout internally)
   - Fixed type conversion for `GenerateParams` → `Record<string, unknown>`

3. **Updated `src/index.ts`** ✓
   - Added `--timeout <seconds>` option (default: 300)
   - Modified generate call to pass `timeoutMs = parseInt(options.timeout) * 1000`
   - Added UI handling for partial results:
     - Yellow warning for partial generation
     - Shows chunks generated/total
     - Shows reason if provided

4. **Updated `src/python/server.py`** ✓
   - Rewrote `handle_generate()` for progressive chunk saving:
     - Chunks saved to disk immediately after generation
     - Tracks `saved_chunk_files` list instead of in-memory `all_audio`
     - Concatenates from disk files at end
     - Cleans up chunk files after successful concatenation
   - Added partial output recovery on exception:
     - If any chunks were saved, concatenates them
     - Returns result with `complete: false` and reason
   - Result now includes `complete`, `chunks_generated`, `chunks_total` fields

- `npm run typecheck`: No new errors (only pre-existing ones at lines 102-104)
- `--help` shows: `--timeout <seconds>  Generation timeout in seconds (0 = no timeout) (default: "300")`

## STEP-04: Implement Issue #002 - No Progress Indicator for Long Files

     - Calculate ETA based on observed char rate
     - Show `"Generating: X% (Y/Z chunks) ~Nm remaining"` when progress available
     - Fall back to estimate-based ETA when no progress

   - Wired up progress callback in non-chunked generate call
   - `spinner.updateProgress(progress)` called on each progress event

#### TEST-05: Issue #005 - Resume Capability

- Detected 2 pending chunks (after manually marking chunks 2,3 as pending)
- Generated only pending chunks
- Concatenated all 4 chunks
- Output: `✓ Generated 49.4s of audio from 4 chunks`

**BUG FOUND & FIXED**: `--resume` flag wasn't working because input text was required first.
**Fix**: Moved resume handling to early in action handler, before input processing.

#### TEST-06: Issue #006 - Batch Mode
**Command**: `speak file1.txt file2.txt file3.txt --output-dir batch-output/`
**Result**: ✅ PASSED
- All 3 files processed
- Output files named after input files (file1.wav, file2.wav, file3.wav)
- `--skip-existing` correctly skips files with existing output

#### TEST-07: Issue #007 - Concat Command
**Command**: `speak concat --out combined.wav file1.wav file2.wav file3.wav`
**Result**: ✅ PASSED (after fix)

**BUG FOUND & FIXED**: `-o, --output` option conflicted with parent command's output option.
**Fix**: Renamed to `--out` for the concat subcommand.

#### TEST-08: Issue #008 - Duration Estimate
**Command**: `speak --estimate "Long text..."`
**Result**: ✅ PASSED
- Shows input stats, estimated audio duration, generation time
- Exits without generating

#### TEST-09: Issue #009 - Model Loading Status
**Result**: ⚠️ PARTIAL
- Status event infrastructure implemented
- However, model loading happens inside mlx_audio's `generate_audio()`, not our wrapper
- Status events fire but model is loaded internally before our code can detect it

#### TEST-10: Issue #010 - Dry Run
**Command**: `speak --dry-run "Text..." --auto-chunk`
**Result**: ✅ PASSED
- Shows estimate, output path, chunking plan
- No audio generated

### Bugs Fixed During Testing

1. **Process hanging after completion**
   - **Cause**: `socket.end()` doesn't force close the socket
   - **Fix**: Changed to `socket.destroy()` in `src/bridge/client.ts`

2. **Concat --output option not working**
   - **Cause**: Option name `-o, --output` conflicted with parent command
   - **Fix**: Renamed to `--out` in concat subcommand

3. **--resume requiring input text**
   - **Cause**: Resume handling was after input validation
   - **Fix**: Moved resume handling to beginning of action handler

### Post-Execution
**Outcome**: PASS (9/10 fully working, 1 partial)

**Final Test Results**:
