# Get an encounter

Operation ID: `patient.getEncounter`

Return a single FHIR Encounter by its resource id. Requires a Bearer JWT (any authenticated pool type).

## Notes

- The `id` path parameter must be the encounter's `fhir_id` from the create response, not its `encounter_id`. Passing `encounter_id` returns a 404. Confirmed live against DEV on 2026-08-10.
