"notes": "Having two select components is a trap unless the choice is written down, so: NativeSelect gets the platform's own picker — the iOS wheel, Android's dialog, the OS dropdown — works with no JavaScript, and is the better control on a phone. Select is the custom listbox, for options that need icons, descriptions, custom rows or search, none of which a native <option> can render since it may contain text and nothing else. From Figma's .input-dropdown. The chevron is aria-hidden decoration layered over the select because some platforms draw their own and suppressing that is not possible everywhere; appearance-none removes it where it can. pe-gap-700 reserves the room so a long option label never runs under the chevron."
