# Record a sighting

**POST** `/v1/issues/{idOrNumber}/occurrences`

**Operation ID**: `recordOccurrence`
**Summary**: Record a sighting
Links the calling investigation to the issue once and counts it. A sighting of a fixed or obsolete issue reopens it, and of a Monitoring issue moves it back to In progress, when the investigation started after the issue's last state change. A duplicate's sighting lands on its survivor. Only an agent's investigation can record one.
