# Stop a running investigation

**POST** `/v1/investigations/{investigationId}/stop`

**Operation ID**: `stop_1`
**Summary**: Stop a running investigation
Durably marks a running investigation as STOPPING and returns 202. An asynchronous reconciler signals the workflow, which pauses at its next turn boundary and records STOPPED; it can then be resumed with a message.
