## Phase 1: Foundation

**Goal**: Set up project infrastructure and database

**Tasks**:
- Initialize Node.js project with Express
- Set up PostgreSQL database
- Create database schema and migrations
- Configure environment variables
- Set up testing framework
- Add linting and formatting

**Duration**: ~2 hours

## Phase 2: Authentication

**Goal**: Implement secure user authentication

**Tasks**:
- Create User model and database table
- Implement password hashing with bcrypt
- Create registration endpoint
- Create login endpoint with JWT generation
- Add authentication middleware
- Add refresh token functionality
- Write authentication tests

**Duration**: ~3 hours

## Phase 3: Task Management

**Goal**: Build core task CRUD operations

**Tasks**:
- Create Task model and database table
- Implement POST /tasks (create task)
- Implement GET /tasks (list tasks)
- Implement GET /tasks/:id (get single task)
- Implement PUT /tasks/:id (update task)
- Implement DELETE /tasks/:id (delete task)
- Add input validation
- Add authorization (users can only access own tasks)
- Write task endpoint tests

**Duration**: ~4 hours

## Phase 4: Advanced Features

**Goal**: Add projects, tags, and priorities

**Tasks**:
- Create Project model and table
- Add project endpoints (CRUD)
- Create Tag model and table
- Add tag endpoints (CRUD)
- Add task-tag associations
- Add priority field to tasks
- Add filtering and sorting to GET /tasks
- Add search functionality
- Update tests

**Duration**: ~4 hours

## Phase 5: Polish & Documentation

**Goal**: Production-ready API with documentation

**Tasks**:
- Add request logging
- Add rate limiting
- Add CORS configuration
- Implement error handling improvements
- Write API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Add health check endpoint
- Performance testing
- Security audit
- Deploy to staging environment

**Duration**: ~3 hours
