# Exxat DS — Font Awesome icons (no Lucide)

Product UI uses **Font Awesome 6 Pro** via the **Kit script** in **`src/layout.tsx`** (or consumer app layout). **Authoritative accessibility pairing:** **`.cursor/rules/exxat-accessibility.mdc`** (Case A/B/C).

## MUST

1. **Markup** — **`<i className="fa-light fa-…" aria-hidden="true" />`** (or **`fa-solid`** when active/selected). Accessible name on parent **`Button` `aria-label`**, adjacent text, or **`Tip`** on icon-only controls.
2. **Weights** — Default **`fa-light`**; **`fa-solid`** for selected / active / strong emphasis (sidebar rows, view tabs, verified checkmarks).
3. **Class strings** — Prefer **static** `className` strings so **`pnpm --filter web fa:subset-audit`** discovers glyphs for Kit subsetting.
4. **Icon sizing** — Use **`text-xs`**, **`text-[13px]`**, or **`size-*`** on the **`<i>`** or a wrapping flex box — not Lucide `strokeWidth` / SVG props.

## MUST NOT

1. **Import `lucide-react`** or any Lucide icon in **`apps/web/**`**, **`packages/ui/**`**, or consumer template apps.
2. Add **Lucide**, **Heroicons**, **Phosphor**, or other SVG icon libraries for product chrome when Font Awesome covers the glyph.
3. Put meaningful accessible names **only** on **`<i>`** without parent labelling — follow **Case B/C** in **`exxat-accessibility.mdc`**.

## shadcn / UI primitives

Base components under **`packages/ui/src/components/ui/`** use Font Awesome **`<i>`** tags — not Lucide SVG components. When upgrading shadcn blocks, **replace Lucide imports** before merging. Set **`"iconLibrary": "fontawesome"`** in **`components.json`**.
