# JetBrains Mono — self-hosted web font

These WOFF2 files back the **gruvbox** dashboard appearance theme and the
explicit JetBrains Mono browser-local font selection (see
`../../styles/themes.css`). They are fetched only when active typography uses
JetBrains Mono. Theme default keeps Gruvbox on JetBrains Mono and the other
themes on IBM Plex Mono; an explicit IBM Plex Mono choice overrides Gruvbox.
Further bundled self-hosted families — Fira Code, Iosevka, OpenDyslexic (an
explicit dyslexia-friendly picker option), and Atkinson Hyperlegible (an
explicit low-vision-friendly picker option) — live alongside these files, each
with its own license and provenance record (`FIRACODE-PROVENANCE.md`,
`IOSEVKA-PROVENANCE.md`, `OPENDYSLEXIC-PROVENANCE.md`,
`ATKINSON-PROVENANCE.md`).

## Processing

The upstream variable TTFs were **subset and re-encoded to WOFF2** with
`fonttools` (`pyftsubset`). The glyph outlines are **unmodified**; only the
codepoint coverage was narrowed and the container converted TTF → WOFF2:

(The italic file uses the same command against `JetBrainsMono-Italic[wght].ttf`.)

The subset keeps Basic Latin + Latin-1, general/superscript punctuation,
currency, letterlike symbols, arrows, math operators, box drawing, block
elements, **geometric shapes**, and dingbats — enough to render every glyph the
dashboard uses, including the status-chip glyphs `●` `◆` `○` `✕`. Cyrillic,
Greek, and Vietnamese ranges were dropped to keep the payload small
(~64 KB normal / ~69 KB italic). The `wght` variable axis (100–800) is
preserved, so weights 400/500/600 render natively without faux-bold synthesis.
