## Behavioral Rules

1. **TypeScript strict mode** — `any` is a bug; explicit types at all public API boundaries; generics over `any`
2. **Async/await over callbacks and raw Promises** — except when performance-critical event emitters justify it; never mix patterns in the same module
3. **Composition over inheritance** — small, composable functions; avoid class hierarchies unless integrating external APIs that require them
4. **Immutability by default** — `const`, readonly, `Object.freeze` for configuration; mutate only at explicit state boundaries
5. **Test behavior, not implementation** — assertions against outputs and side effects; no tests that break on refactoring without behavior change

## Anti-Patterns to Reject

- `any` as a "fix" for type errors
- Callback hell (3+ levels of nesting)
- Classes with more than one public responsibility
