# Trademark notice

**DOOM** is a registered trademark of id Software LLC, a ZeniMax Media company.

Phobos is **not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by** id Software,
ZeniMax, or Microsoft. The name "Phobos" is the title of this Caputchin game and
is not a DOOM trademark; it refers to the Martian moon.

Phobos is built on:

- the **DOOM engine** source code, used under the GNU General Public License
  version 2 (see `THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md`), and
- **Freedoom** game data, a free/libre replacement for the DOOM game data.

No id Software game data, artwork, branding, logos, or shareware/retail WAD files
are used or distributed. Any reference to "DOOM" in documentation is nominative,
to describe the engine lineage, and does not imply any affiliation.
