*Carretera Convencional* or *CCRIGE* (***C**arretera **C**onvencional, **R**ed de **I**nterés **G**eneral del **E**stado*) is the official typeface used by the Spanish government in road signs as per the most current legislation. It was first conceived as a derivative of *Transport*, and the original version has been slightly modified over the years. It is often compared to Italy's *Alfabeto Normale* because of their great similarities.

Use of the font is enforced by [*Orden FOM/534/2014, de 20 de marzo*](https://www.boe.es/eli/es/o/2014/03/20/fom534), and its characters are precisely defined in the upcoming [*Catálogo de señales verticales de circulación*](https://www.interior.gob.es/opencms/pdf/servicios-al-ciudadano/participacion-ciudadana/Participacion-publica-en-proyectos-normativos/Audiencia-e-informacion-publica/16_2022_Borrador_Tomo_II_Dimensiones__senales.pdf), which is still a draft. The font will be updated accordingly once the definitive version is published.
