Brinsley is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. He has performed as a vocal soloist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and played as principal violinist in multiple orchestras.

Brinsley holds a First Class Honours BA in Music from the University of York, where he specialised in Composition for Film in his final year. Brinsley is also an alumnus of Chetham’s School of Music, where he studied composition and singing alongside violin and piano.
Brinsley graduated in the summer of 2025 with First Class Honours. His final-year dissertation project involved creating a portfolio of newly written material scored to picture (read more here). While studying at York, Brinsley also played with the University of York Symphony Orchestra, sang with The 24, and commissioned music for and performed with The Chimera Ensemble.
In 2023, Brinsley was a choral scholar at the York Oratory (Sir Wilfred's) where he sang in a 4 part solo-voice ensemble, singing 2 services per week, and was also awarded a Choral Scholarship by the University of York.
Brinsley went on to study at Chetham’s School of Music for Sixth Form, where he was taught composition by Douglas Mason and Jeremy Pike and had vocal tuition from Helen Francis and Marcus Farnsworth. Brinsley also studied the violin and piano, and achieved his ABRSM Grade 8 on all three instruments before he finished his studies. Brinsley was part of jazz groups, orchestras, and even set up a barbershop ensemble- which he sang in, with weekly rehearsals and multiple performances. Brinsley was also part of other student-led choirs, as well as singing in Chetham’s Chamber and contemporary ensemble choirs.

Brinsley has been involved with the BBC on multiple occasions, performing on BBC Radio 3 twice as a choral singer, firstly in the Easter Sunday broadcast from Hereford Cathedral, and secondly as part of the Three Choirs Festival service. Brinsley also reached the semi-finals in the BBC Young Composer 30 second composing challenge. In his final year at Chetham’s, Brinsley performed as a soloist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra alongside Chetham’s Chamber Choir, singing in Haydn's Harmoniemesse at The Bridgewater Hall, which was then recorded and later broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Brinsley began his musical career in Hereford Cathedral, where he sang as a chorister for three years (2015–2017). During that time, he sang Bach's Passions and Oratorios each year among many other large-scale works. He performed at Buckingham Palace, on BBC Radio 3, and spent a week on a tour around America.
At Hereford Cathedral, he sang 21 hours each week across six services. Although the workload was tiring at such a young age, Brinsley felt incredibly rewarded and his love for music—along with his vocal skills—quickly developed.
